John
has particular interests in the provision of travel information, in
workable business models for delivery of quality transport schemes, and in
innovative solutions to transport problems. He has a background in commercial
public transport planning and operations, in the local authority sector,
and in information and telecoms strategy. These give him a wide
understanding of the practical, political, financial, and technological
issues affecting transport project development. One
of the first to recognise the potential of the Internet for the public
transport industry and its customers, he initiated the UK Public Transport
Information website, at www.pti.org.uk, in 1996: he has
since been involved in several different aspects of both traveline and Transport Direct. John has worked in the former
