Jean carried out a detailed analysis of the records of over a quarter of a million fatal and serious road accidents occurring in Great Britain between 2000 and 2005. This made it possible to provide an extensive investigation into the factors associated with accidents on rural roads. The report was used by the IAM Motoring Trust to set the scene for a debate on the issues surrounding the safety record of rural roads and what should be done to reduce deaths and injuries on Britain’s rural roads.
